Abstract

Mitra Usaha Parigel Garut Cooperative is a producer cooperative with 95 MSME members located in Garut Regency, operating procurement and packaging (GPH) units. The study addresses low member participation linked to limited understanding of their dual identity as both owners and users of the cooperative. This study aims to analyze members understanding of dual identity in an effort to enhance their participation both as owners and users of the cooperative. The method employed is a quantitative descriptive approach, utilizing interviews and the distribution of questionnaires to 49 active members. The results of the study showed that the level of members' understanding of dual identity was included in the "Quite Understanding" category with a score of 878, but their participation remains low particularly in attending the Annual Member Meeting (RAT), fulfilling mandatory savings payments, and repaying loans. This low participation is due to limited understanding of their dual identity, lack of targeted training, and suboptimal cooperative service quality. Therefore, educational and strategic efforts are needed, including relevant training and service improvement, to increase member awareness and active participation both as owners and users of the cooperative.
